Sensory Sundays provide increased accessibility for those with sensory sensitivities to enjoy the museum without large crowds or extra stimuli. Our planetarium and Science Theater will be open and provide opportunities to experience public programs tailored for Sensory Sundays. Support backpacks are also available at our Admissions desk, for Sensory Sundays or on any other day the museum is open to the public.

Hedgehog Day
February 2nd
Join us for our annual Hedgehog Day from 10am-11am with a proclamation at 10am.
Meet Walnut the Hedgehog and other Animal Ambassadors, do some themed crafts, learn about conservation efforts, and visit a native plant station hosted by Dayton Wild Ones.

Scientist Lab
Starting January 3rd
A new hands-on program for explorers ages 5 and up who want to dig deeper and uncover the “why” behind the world around them. Explore rotating science themes, from studying amazing live animals to engineering creative solutions or diving into chemistry and physics. Kids will test, tinker, observe, build, and investigate just like real scientists, then leave inspired to keep exploring long after they go home.
