Sensory Sundays

Sensory Sundays provide increased accessibility for those with sensory sensitivities to enjoy the museum without large crowds or extra stimuli. Our planetarium and Science Theater will be open and provide opportunities to experience public programs tailored for Sensory Sundays. Support backpacks are also available at our Admissions desk, for Sensory Sundays or on any other day the museum is open to the public.

Teddy Bear Clinic

March 7th

10:00am – 2:00pm

Bring in your favorite stuffed animal for a special check-up from Veterinarian Dr. Staab! Any plushies in need of extra care can head to our “surgery” room where our team of volunteers will help with small cosmetic fixes—like loose seams or minor tears. All on-site!

Laser Light Shows

Matinee Shows

Matinee laser shows are a new, special programming option in the Caryl D. Phillips Space Theater! These shows combine some of your favorite family-friendly music with cool laser technology. These shows are recommended for ages 8 and up.

Pollinator Day

March 14th 

10 A.M. – 4 P.M.

Pollinator Day is a museum wide family friendly event that supports the mission of the museum by promoting knowledge and conservation of pollinator species. 

Themed programming will run from 10 A.M. – 4 P.M.

Scientist Lab 

Every Weekend

This hands-on program is for explorers ages 5 and up who want to dig deeper and uncover the “why” behind the world around them. Explore rotating science themes, from studying amazing live animals to engineering creative solutions or diving into chemistry and physics. Kids will test, tinker, observe, build, and investigate just like real scientists, then leave inspired to keep exploring long after they go home.

Ignite your mind with Summer Camps at the Boonshoft Museum. Join us for hands-on science and a summer of exploration, learning, and fun!

Toddler Time

Join Feather and Stone for Toddler Time: Explore the Ice Age! Little learners gather in the museum classroom for a read‑aloud, followed by Ice Age–themed activities designed to help parents support play‑based early childhood learning. Afterward, families can head into the museum to discover even more connections to the day’s theme.  
 

Meet the Animals
