“I am thrilled to join the Boonshoft Museum of Discovery and contribute to its mission of inspiring curiosity, creativity, and learning,” Sanford said. “My passion has always been about breaking down barriers to education and connecting communities to meaningful opportunities for growth.”

Sanford began her nonprofit career as an AmeriCorps VISTA member, a role that ignited her dedication to service, and she has since built a reputation for fostering collaboration between educators, students, and organizations. Her leadership style, rooted in community-building, makes her uniquely suited to guide Boonshoft’s wide-ranging educational programming.

“We are excited to welcome Kineta to our leadership team,” said Tracey Tomme, President and CEO of the Dayton Society of Natural History. “Her impressive combination of teaching expertise, nonprofit leadership, and commitment to accessibility aligns perfectly with our mission. Kineta’s vision will help us expand opportunities for learners and deepen our impact in the region.”

As Director of Education, Sanford will oversee programming that brings science, nature, and culture to life for learners of all ages, reinforcing Boonshoft’s position as a leader in hands-on, immersive education throughout Dayton and beyond.
